The Vision Quest is an experience that connects a person to the eternal in a real and powerful way. It is to find one’s ‘Vision’ and bring it back into the world, back into your community and life in a real and meaningful way.
We Quest to find clarity and direction in life.
The Vision Quest is a sacred space where we lean into our edges and release the energies that ‘block’ us. It is a time when we ask ourselves what we truly desire in life, what we’re really working toward, and confront those areas of self that must shift in order for these things to manifest. For four days and nights we strip away all distraction and fast from all things familiar. We are then able to hear the quiet voice of the heart. It is a challenging, direct and truly life transforming experience. It is deeply healing.

While uniquely expressed in each culture, the Vision Quest is historically common to all people worldwide, throughout time. It is “old as dirt.” It has been used in one form or another by indigenous peoples and mystical traditions for millennia. It is a rite of passage, an initiation often marking a life transition. It is a sacred time when a person removes themself from their community and undergoes a direct experience in nature. Afterwards they return to their people and share their newfound gifts. Some people choose to continue to Quest throughout their life to seek the deeper teachings and wisdom found within the Quest.
This is the Vision Quest handed down from Stalking Wolf, a Lipan Apache elder and shaman, through his student Tom Brown Jr., and subsequently through Malcolm Ringwalt. Part of Stalking Wolf’s Vision was to travel and learn from all peoples and philosophies, find the simple truths beyond the shackling traditions, customs, and dogmas – and pass on the simplicity. This Vision Quest is one such simple truth. It is not an Apache Vision Quest. It is the distilled simplicity of the Vision Quest that Stalking Wolf handed down for all people called to it, and is available to anyone from any cultural background, tradition or belief system. Thousands of people around the world, from all walks of life, have Quested in this way, from teenagers to people in their late 80s.

The Vision Quest is a time of silent refection, of looking inward toward what truly matters most in life. It is a time of crying up, of letting go. It is a challenging, direct, and truly life transforming experience. The Quest will confront you with what needs to be addressed in order to live your Vision. It will provide the space to live through those changes and respond to the pure and quiet voice of the heart.
In the Quest we are given the opportunity to strip away all distractions. We remove as many external distractions as possible so we can purge our mind, body and spirit of that which distracts us internally from living our Vision.
Tom Brown Jr. said it this way: “If you had one day left to live, what would you do? When you can say ‘The same thing I’m doing right now,’ then you are living your Vision.”

This core of this experience is spending four days and nights fasting in solitude in the heart of nature. You will have water and very basic materials to stay warm and dry while remaining within a relatively small area. The people facilitating this program maintain the space for you to have this experience uninterrupted and supported in a safe way.
The full program lasts eight days. Time is spent before the quest preparing you to gain the most from your time in solitude and afterwards you will be given tools to help you integrate your experience into your day-to-day life. The people facilitating the program have undergone many Vision Quests themselves and have years of experience running these programs for others.

This donation is not payment for the Vision Quest teachings, but covers the many expenses incurred in running this program, such as the meals for the 4 days you are not Questing, land rental, supplies, travel expenses, insurance, first aid supplies etc., which enable us to continue to offer this program to those who are called to it. Further, it is a measure of your commitment to what you are undertaking and a measure of respect for your guides and protectors in the experience. A deposit is required if you are accepted to the program for food purchasing and travel costs for needed staff.
